A headache can completely ruin your day and no one wants that.

Whether it’s tension caused by stress or anxiety, misalignment in the way that you’re sitting, or something else, like a lack of sleep or eye strain, what you most want is relief.

So this is a gentle, healing, restorative yoga practice to support you when you have a headache.

Since a lot of headaches have to do with stress, this 20-minute routine will ease pressure in your head, balance out your nervous system, and calm your mind, encouraging the pain to melt away. (Loving Note: This is not for migraines).

A regular restorative yoga practice can also ease the discomfort caused by headaches and create a new habit of ease and relaxation, which helps to prevent future headaches. If you want more guidance, support and inspiration in starting your own home yoga practice, click here to check out my LIGHTER Membership.

PRACTICE

And if you're short on time, try these bonus tools:

Calm Eyes

Relieve eye strain, soften head tension and calm your mind as you close out the outer world.

Rub your hands together to create some heat. Close your eyes and gently place the heels of your hands into your eyelids. Feel the warmth seeping in. Rest your fingers against your forehead. Stay here for three long, deep breaths and gently relax your hands to rest on your thighs.

Temple Massage

Soothe tension in your temples with the tips of your fingers.

Another nice practice you can do is to press your index fingers into the centre of your eyebrows, then trace an arch up your forehead and out to the sides of your temples, pressing evenly as you go. Repeat this 2-4 more times.
