How to Find Peace in Difficult Times
Whenever I’m feeling the weight of the world, I love to remind myself that all of the peace I seek is within my heart. In episode #010 of The Prana + Patchouli Podcast, I'm sharing a relaxing meditation that will remind you of that and help you tap into your inner experience of peace. It's an effective way to calm your nervous system when you feel anxious, stressed, overwhelmed, annoyed or just out of alignment.

So, it’s September and things don’t look like we thought they would by now. The world is still asking a lot from us and these are difficult times. We’re slowly making our way back out into the wild as we expand our comfort zones again.
I know this is testing my body, mind and spirit, daily. But, it’s really grounding me in the experience of being human. I am a deeply feeling human and no matter how messy the world around me, it reminds me that I’m alive.
Even though the uncertainty is uncomfortable, if there’s one message I want to share with you in this episode, it’s this:
All of the peace you seek is within your heart.
Whenever I’m feeling the weight of the world, I love to remind myself of this with a relaxing meditation that taps into our inner experience of peace.
It’s called “Peace Begins With Me” and is an effective way to calm your nervous system when you feel anxious, stressed, overwhelmed, annoyed or just out of alignment.
I know this is so needed at the moment!
The meditation combines a mantra and a mudra that you can use just about anywhere when you need it. You can use it walking down the street, in line for coffee, under your desk at work, when anxiety hits or while your kids or pets are causing chaos.
Even if you just have one minute to spare, it’s an easy practice that will slow your energy down and bring you into a place of stillness.
Our outer world reflects our inner experience and while we might not be able to control exactly what’s going on around us, we can choose how we move through it.
How to Practise the Meditation:
The mantra, which is a word or phrase you repeat, silently or out loud, while meditating to focus your attention and calm your mind, is ‘Peace Begins With Me’. This will help you invoke the peaceful energy you want to cultivate.
The mudra, which is a hand position that harnesses the energy of the mantra in your body, goes like this:
You’ll touch each finger to your thumb, on one or both hands.
When you touch your index finger, say: PEACE.
When you touch your middle finger, say: BEGINS.
When you touch your ring finger, say: WITH.
When you touch your pinky finger, say: ME.

Breathe deeply as you say each word. Go as slow or as fast as you like.
Repeat 5 times (which we’ll do together now), or until you feel a release and relief from whatever lifted you from your centre.
May this practice remind you that the unshakeable peace you seek, is right there inside you - and has been all along.
